Summa Rewind

Summer is over, and it feels like it just started. But looking back on the summer, it was a lot of work but some surprises that I never thought would happen, such as finding two litter of cats in three weeks. I have never been a cat guy, but this summer was eye-opening. Even so, I adopted one of the cats to call my own. 

One summer night, my girlfriend and I were walking around my neighborhood, enjoying the sunset, and she spotted a box on the side of our neighbor's house. We walked over to investigate and found out that there were cats in this box. At first, there were four kittens, and then one by one, another cat appeared and another. Eventually, we counted out seven cats, four kittens, and three adults. We called our neighbors to ask them if they knew anything about these cats, and they said they were just as shocked as us. 

We rounded up all the cats that would let us get close to them and put them in my garage for the night. Later that night, we set live traps with wet cat food to catch the other two that didn't let us grab them. Throughout the week, we ended up catching just one of them. We planned to take them to a farm to be farm cats. On the night of taking them, we caught the momma of the kittens, perfecting timing. 

These are the four Kittens. 

We took five cats to the farm the next day, and they are all still alive. The other two, me and my girlfriend, decided to adopt them. She kept one of the kittens and named it Mango. Mango was the smallest of all the kittens, so she felt the need to take care of it. I adopted one of the adults and named her Peaches. She is currently here on campus as an ESA. 

Mango is the kitten in front. Peaches is behind Mango. 

The next litter of cats showed up at my girlfriend's house, and they are currently taking care of three kittens and have already found them all homes! I also included a picture of these kittens down below. 

These are the three kittens currently getting treatment. 

I'd love to hear from you all, and tell me about your pets if you have any. Do you have any advice for a first-time cat owner? Are you a Dog person or a Cat person?

    Chase, as a dog owner I do not have much advice for a first-time cat owner. Although, when I google it, Google says "consider setting up a cat room" so I hope that helps. I'm definitely a dog person but your cats look awesome!

    Those are a lot of kittens. I feel sorry for you. Dogs are way better than cats in every way. That is really cool that you rescued kittens though.

    Chase, that is very cool that you and your girlfriend helped find homes for all of those cats. I have had dogs all my life and I they are amazing. However, I adopted a cat who last October when he was six months old. I had never had a cat before, so it has been interesting. I would suggest getting a scratching post and setting something by the window your cat can lay on to watch what's happening outside. My cat enjoys that a lot. Also, my cat likes little toys and balls he can kick around and chase.

 Finals Burnout      Wow, this semester has really flown by. It feels like we were writing our first blog post just yesterday, and now we're penning our last. This class has been a rewarding experience overall. Sure, there were stressful moments, but that's part and parcel of any course. I gained valuable insights about social media, such as how to manage different social media, and identified improvement areas.      At this point, I only have a few write and assignments to complete. Ohio Northern Week One

 Ohio Northern Week One     This weekend kickoffs college football around the country. This includes your Ohio Northern Polar Bears. These bears are traveling up to Alma to hopefully have an action packed week one. If we take a look back at last year, Alma beat the ONU in extras. The news spiraling around the team it seems like they are liking their chances more this year than last.      Three weeks ago the team arrived to campus to start preseason camp. Having long days and football pretty much all day for about two weeks the team worked toward  sharpen their craft for the season. The biggest questions coming into this season was "what will these team be after last year?" With new offensive coordinator and a couple new coaches to help the polar bears have a better season than last.     I will be traveling with the team to Alma this week as their social media and content director. Rangers Collapse

 Rangers Collapse      The Texas Rangers this season have been one of the better teams in the Major Leagues. The Rangers started off the season with fifty-two wins and thirty-nine losses. They lead their division over the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners by a couple of games. The Rangers finally made it to the all-star break, and it was a nice break, giving our players some days off and rest.
