Birthday Plans

Birthday Plans     This weekend marks my twenty-first birthday. I am excited and looking forward to enjoying the day, but there is just one small problem. As some of you may know, I work for the Ohio Northern Football team. This weekend, we are away at Mount Union for our second road game of the year. Unfortunately, I have to travel up to Cleveland for a game.      Of course, I would rather just be able to relax and chill on my birthday, but I have to travel all the way there for a two o'clock game. And then head back, around a two-and-a-half hour drive back to Ada. But I have to do my job whether it rains or snows. So, I should go to this game because I know people rely on me.      Usually, a game takes around two-and-a-half to three hours from start to finish. I am considering driving myself to leave directly after the game. Usually, the team has to wait for everyone to get done showering, changing, and seeing friends and family. This all ...

Must W

Must Wins     In my previous blogs, I have talked about my love for the Texas Rangers. I talked about how the recent struggles of the Rangers have been anything but unnoticeable. They are on a ten-game losing streak and barely hanging around for a place at the wild card spot. Losing key players to injury has been a real killer for this team's record. But what if I told you they  aren't done yet.      After a losing streak of ten games, the Rangers were on a quick decline out of the playoffs. With key players getting injured and numerous blown save changes, this team looked like they were done for good. Despite just recently losing Max Scherzer for the season, the Rangers somehow found a way to climb into a playoff spot and into the AL West division race. They are a half-a-game back from the Houston Astros and tied in second with the Seattle Mariners.      With this division being so tight, the Rangers will have to win some crucial games...

Bendo Bowl

Image
Bendo Bowl     This weekend, the Ohio Northern Polar Bears take on rival Heidelberg University. This game is expected to bring a lot of exciting plays with points, interceptions, and more. This game is played yearly against these two rival schools for the right to be named winner of the Bendo Bowl. Bendo Bowl is named after a Heidelberg coach who passed away years ago. Since then, the two schools have decided to name the Bendo Bowl rivalry game .      The Bendo Bowl will be this Saturday at six. The Polar Bears will host this year's Bendo Bowl at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The first night game of the year will bring a big crowd for each school. The more people, the better the atmosphere. Last season was a blowout, and we did not play well enough to win. But the year before that, the score was decided by one point. So, what will this year's game have in store? We'll have to wait and see.     I encourage everyone to attend this year's game. I hope this ...

Rangers Collapse

Image
Rangers Collapse      The Texas Rangers this season have been one of the better teams in the Major Leagues. The Rangers started off the season with fifty-two wins and thirty-nine losses. They lead their division over the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners by a couple of games. The Rangers finally made it to the all-star break, and it was a nice break, giving our players some days off and rest. After the all-star break, the Rangers have posted a twenty-four and twenty-three record since. What happened to them? Let's take a deep dive into this.      The Rangers were not sellers (trade away some of your better players with big contracts for draft picks or younger players) by any means. The Rangers were buyers and traded for relievers Chris Stratton and Aroldis Chapman and starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery. And acquiring Austin Hedges for catching experience. Everyone around the MLB believed the Rangers would be dangerous in the second...
