World Series
World Series
The MLB World Series is almost here. Starting Friday, the Texas Rangers host the first game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is the most unlikely World Series, with both teams having losing records last year. But we are looking at something other than last year. The two teams entered the playoffs this season and won the AL and NL pennants.
As you may know, I am a huge Texas Rangers fan, so we will cover their playoff run first. This playoff had the Rangers in the Wildcard facing off against the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-series game. The Rangers won that series in only two games. As they moved on, they had to face the number one seed, the Baltimore Orioles. This was a five-game series, and the Rangers won in three games. This pushed them into the chance to win the AL pennant. Their next opponent is a familiar team who is the rival of the Rangers. The Houston Astros have made it to the AL pennant seven years in a row. The Battle of Texas was arguably the most entertaining series of the playoffs. The Rangers won the series in game seven with a huge offensive sneak attack. Now they are heading to the World Series since twenty-eleven.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the sneakiest teams in the MLB. These Diamondbacks snuck into the playoffs at the last spot available. They squared off against the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game series and won that series in two games. Next, they had to face the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game series. They swept the Dodgers in only three games, helping them move into the NL pennant. Waiting for them was the Philadelphia Phillies, who were looking to return to the World Series after coming up short last year. This series was surprising to everyone, I would say, because the Phillies had a chance to go up three games to one, and the Diamondbacks hit a walk-off home run to catapult them to win the series and move to the World Series.
If I had to guess the series, the Texas Rangers won this series in seven because the Diamondbacks never give up and keep fighting. But the Rangers have been playing great baseball and are my favorite team.
Who do you think will win this World Series? How many games will it take to win as well? Of course, I will see you in the next one and Go, Rangers!
Thanks for the breakdown of the World Series! I am not much of a baseball fan myself but I appreciate sport and the effort it takes to reach the top.
